Collier Heights Public Housing

Summary

Residents of all black Collier Heights Community sue and protest a proposed apartment construction plan which threatens the business of a prominent black leader in the community and runs the risk of inviting further commercial construction into the residential neighborhood.

“Three white Aldermen passed the [original zoning] resolution in executive session, where no blacks could attend, giving 40 acres of land to commercial use.” (ADW Residents Halt Apartments on Skipper)
