I-75/85 Connector Construction

Summary

Lochner Plan and Federal Aid Highway Act set the construction of 75/85 in motion. Plans were originally set to build the interstate around the west side of the city, but changed to the parts of the city where “it would be feasible to purchase suitable rights-of-way, being the most depreciated and least attractive, [were] in need of rejuvenation... classed as slum clearance” (Darnell)
