Different Outcomes for Black and White Public Housing Projects

Summary

There was a strong juxtaposition in outcome of the two sibling housing projects: Techwood homes, which was created for white families, and University homes, created for Black families. When the bid for hosting the 1996 Olympics was given to the city of Atlanta, Techwood homes became a focal point for revitalization and was given funding from the Hope VI grant to create mixed income developments. The University homes were destroyed a little over 10 years later.
