Community Support for Public Housing in Wider Atlanta: Corner of Northside Drive and West Mitchell Street

Summary

Friendship Baptist Church, Atlanta’s oldest predominantly black congregation, is the sponsor of a highrise for the elderly being built under HUD Section 202 and Section 8 programs. The church also sponsored the Samuel W Williams Friendship Center housing complex, with 207 units of garden apartments and townhomes neighboring the highrise.
